The following are some of the questions most frequently asked of our front-desk staff. If you have a question that is not answered here, please feel free to contact us.

Q: How do I apply for MVHO housing?
A: Persons who are homeless and have a disability must be referred to us through one of Montgomery County's gateway shelters -- the Gettysburg Gateway for Men (937-222-7350) or the St. Vincent de Paul Gateway for Women and Families (937-461-7837). MVHO also provides housing for individuals with physical disabilities, people over 50, and people with income less than 50% of the Area Median Income in Montgomery County. If you are in one of these categories, you can contact the MVHO office at (937) 263-4449 to learn more.

Q: Who qualifies for MVHO housing?
A: Most of our candidates must be homeless, have a disability, and be referred to MVHO through the gateway shelter system. The disability may be in the category of physical disabilities, mental health disabilities, HIV, substance abuse, or a medically frail condition. Those who are not homeless must have a physical disability, be age 50 or older, or have a household income less than 50% of the Area Median Income. Unfortunately, high demand means that we do not always have units available, so eligibility does not guarantee that we will be able to house an applicant immediately.

Q: What services does MVHO provide?
A: For persons who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, our PATH program provides outreach, immediate access to basic needs, and referrals. For clients in the Shelter Plus Care rental assistance program, we process applications, conduct inspections and address concerns and issues related to the program. For tenants in the properties owned or managed by MVHO, we provide the services typical of any landlord, including property maintenance. MVHO does NOT provide case management services to our tenants or rental assistance clients.

Q: Can I apply for MVHO housing if my child has a disability?
A: No, the adult applying for housing must be the one with a disability.

Q: Is MVHO accepting Shelter Plus Care (S+C) referrals?
A: All S+C referrals are now being handled through our community's Front Door Assessment system. Please contact Homefull at (937) 293-1945 for more information about the process.

Q: Can I pay my MVHO rent online?
A: No, we do not have the ability to accept online payments at this time.

Q: Does MVHO accept direct deposit?
A: No, not at this time.

Q: Can MVHO do exit inspections?
A: No.

Q: What is MVHO's mailing address?
A: 907 West Fifth Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402
