Leasing Policies

Miami Valley Housing Opportunities works to meet the housing needs of vulnerable citizens in our community. One of the ways we strive to achieve this mission is by developing, implementing and enforcing leasing policies that help our tenants be good neighbors.

Every MVHO tenant has to abide by a lease. For the most part, the lease is similar to what you would sign before moving into any apartment, spelling out the rights and responsibilities of the tenant and the landlord.

MVHO wants all of our tenants to be successful and remain stably housed. However, there are some activities that can result in a tenant losing his or her housing and subsidy. These include nonpayment of rent, criminal activity such as drugs or prostitution, arson, going to jail, and breach of the quiet enjoyment of others. In other words, we expect and encourage our tenants to be good neighbors.

For those tenants who are at high risk for losing their housing, MVHO's Resident Affairs Manager personally works with them, their case managers and other appropriate community organizations to make every effort to get them back on track.
